World Day of Peace - Panathlon International Club of Padua

Prof. Renato Zanovello, former President of the Panathlon Club Padua, sent us a newsworthy reflection on peace and its connection with the world of sport.

An English nursery rhyme says:

For Want of a Nail

For Want of a Nail, the Shoe Was Lost

For want of the shoe, the horse was lost;

For want of the horse, the rider was lost;

For want of the rider, the battle was lost;

For want of the battle, the kingdom was lost;

And all from the want of a tiny horseshoe nail!

In my opinion, this means that if, in the family, educational, social, political, religious and sporting spheres, a sincere and constructive dialogue is not opened up from the very beginning, from the smallest issues, a dangerous escalation is triggered that leads to devastating consequences, as we can unfortunately see time and again.
Who knows that at any given moment, not just on World Peace Day, that unfortunate nail will penetrate people's heads! "
