Il Panathlon International Club Modena ha assegnato le borse di studio a cinque studenti che hanno completato con merito i cinque anni dell’Indirizzo Sportivo del Liceo Scientifico “Alessandro Tassoni” di Modena lo scorso anno scolastico.
I riconoscimenti sono andati ad Alberto Esposito, Enrico Montaguti, Federico Monti, Aurora Riso e Lorenzo Sanguinetti, tutti classe 2003 e attualmente impegnati nel loro primo anno di università, divisi tra gli atenei di Bologna, Ferrara e Milano. L’importo delle borse di studio, mille euro l’una, è stato garantito per metà grazie a una donazione al Panathlon da parte di Nicoletta Mantovani, in memoria di Luciano Pavarotti, mentre la parte rimanente dal club modenese, con il contributo della famiglia Rivetti.
“Lo sport ha sempre più bisogno di competenza e professionisti qualificati, cui va fornito tutto il sostegno di cui necessitano - commenta Maria Carafoli, presidente del Panathlon International Club Modena - ringrazio di cuore la dirigente scolastica Stefania Ricciardi e i professori del "Tassoni", punti di riferimento del nostro territorio in materia di didattica sportiva, oltre che Nicoletta Mantovani e la famiglia Rivetti, per la generosità dimostrata, ancora una volta, per i nostri progetti”.

By the deadline date (25 March) we received 100 photos that will be voted by the International Jury to identify the three final winners and to designate the 30 works that will constitute the exhibition that will take place in Reggio Emilia (Italy), in the premises of UNIMORE University, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, from 6 May 2023. Starting yesterday, the public will be able to vote for their favourite photo by giving their 'like' on Facebook until 23 April.
The photo with the highest number of preferences will win the "Audience Award" consisting in a subscription to an international photography magazine.
A similar prize will be awarded also by the Panathlon Clubs that, through their referents, will decree the winner of the "Panathlon Club Prize".

Lunedì 27 Marzo in accordo con l'Universita degli Studi di Viterbo, con la Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri e con l'Accademia Maestri dello sport del CONI, il Panathlon International Club Viterbo ha organizzato un convegno avente per tema "Il Cavallo dalla terapia allo Sport". Il Rettore dell'Università Stefano Ubertini ha salutato i relatori ed gli studenti dei Licei Scientifici ad indirizzo sportivo presenti in sala.

Andrea Lanfri, l’uomo con le gambe amputate che ha scalato l’Everest - Panathon International Club Livorno

Una bella serata dedicata all’alpinismo e in particolare a un alpinista speciale, Andrea Lanfri, ex atleta paralimpico della Nazionale italiana di atletica leggera, medaglia d’argento sulla velocità ai Mondiali paralimpici, da sempre amante della montagna. Il quale, dopo essere tornato all’arrampicata libera, sport praticato prima della meningite che lo ha costretto a subire alcune amputazioni, ha scalato le vette più importanti d’Italia tra cui il monte Bianco prima di conquistare la vetta del monte Everest in Asia diventando il primo uomo con pluriamputazioni a salire il tetto del mondo.
La serata è stata svolta dal Panathlon Club di Livorno al Circolo ufficiali della Marina militare di via San Jacopo in Acquaviva. A fare gli onori di casa è stata la presidente del Panathlon livornese, Daniela Becherini, che ha parlato di “serata straordinaria” e di “grande lezione di vita, oltre che di sport, che ci viene da questo incredibile atleta”.
“Ho raccolto le mie emozioni e la testimonianza di alcune avventura che ho vissuto in un libro a cui ho voluto dare un titolo per me significativo, ossia toccare il cielo le tre dita che ancora ho, perché questa impresa rappresenta e sintetizza la forza di volontà che ho messo nella lotta alla malattia che avrebbe potuto uccidermi”, ha affermato Lanfri.
Lanfri, dopo aver dato alle stampe “Voglio correre più veloce della meningite” assieme a Giulia Polvani, ha più recentemente pubblicato “Toccare il cielo con tre dita”, a partire dal quale si è parlato al Panathlon.
Nato a Lucca nel novembre 1986, Lanfri nel gennaio 2015 contrasse la meningite e questa gli ha fatto perdere entrambe le gambe e sette dita delle mani e gran parte della mobilità di quest’ultime. Ciò nonostante, con grande forza d’animo, una volta guarito, ha voluto dedicarsi interamente allo sport e le amputazioni non gli hanno impedito di affermarsi prima nell’atletica e poi nell’alpinismo.
Lanfri ha anche scalato il Kilimangiaro in Africa ed è riuscito nell’impresa di correre con le lame, ossia con particolari tipi di protesi, ad oltre 5 mila 160 metri di altezza percorrendo un miglio, in simili condizioni, in soli 9 minuti e 48 secondi.
Debate on "Joy and pain in sport" - Panathlon International

The presentation of the book "Joy and Pain in Sport" by Professor Yves Vanden Auwelee took place on Tuesday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Fondation Universitaire de Bruxelles.
During the days from 22nd to 24th March were held in Rapallo, at the IP Headquarters of Villa Queirolo, several institutional meetings and events:
- the meeting of the CSEC (Commission for Science, Education and Culture of PI), chaired by the IB Member Eugenio Guglielmino and composed by Antonio Carlos Bramante (BR) and Piermarco Zen Ruffinen (CH). The International Board approved the theme of the next 2024 Congress (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Sports for Women). They have also analysed the possibilities of developing existing collaboration agreements,
- the meeting of the International Board, which discussed, during the two days of work, many topics on the agenda:
• the approval of the budget (with the news that it will be sent to all clubs);
• the adaptation of the PI Rules (with some adjustments due to the revision);
• the new “Athlete Ambassadors” project;
• the participation of PI in two new Erasmus projects (Sport4Compliance and Sport Against Doping) that have been submitted to the EU Commission.
They also talked about: young people, Junior Clubs, the recognition to the Members with a Panathletic Seniority and the Clubs/Areas/Districts promoting the birth of new clubs, the "Third Sector", the Pan-American Congress in Guayaquil (ECU), the activity of the Expansion Commission, other issues that led to deliberations posted on our Website and that will be forwarded to the District Presidents and Governors, as usual.
The Board met in a hybrid system, the Board of Admin. of the "PI- D. Chiesa Foundation": an institutionalised meeting now in its third year. During the meeting the IB of Panathlon International reaffirmed the function of the Foundation as "operational arm" of P.I. They discussed the topics concerning: Communication, Training, Domenico Chiesa Award, Projects in implementation phase.
They have proposed cultural initiatives projected to the development of the activities in perspective of 2026, year of the Winter Olympic Games Milan-Cortina and of the recurrence of the 75th anniversary of foundation of the panathletic movement started by the constitution of Panathlon Club Venice in 1951.
Alongside these institutional meetings, two other important events marked these days
- the live signature, between the President of PI Pierre Zappelli and the President of ISCA Mogens Kirkeby, of a Collaboration Agreement for a partnership between the two Movements: both Presidents expressed themselves for a commitment not only formal but to set up and realise common initiatives and projects;
- the "launch" of the project that sees Panathlon International and One Ocean Foundation as protagonists. Through the underwriting of the Charta Smeralda more than ten Maritime Authorities, based between Sestri Levante and Genoa, have received from Panathlon International an Ethical Plaque for the commitment to share and spread the principles of the protection of the seas and oceans, with reference to the ethical values of the practice of sport in water (see news). Now all the Panathlon Clubs of the world, close to the sea, lakes and rivers, will be called to realise this new initiative.
