60th Bancarella Sport Prize “Quanti sassi nei miei sandali” admitted among the semifinalists

The book “Quanti sassi nei miei sandal” (How many stones in my sandals) by Past President Giacomo Santini and published by Vita Trentina, has been admitted among the twenty semi-finalists of the 60th Bancarella Sport Prize. This is the first step in the selection process, which now envisages a further screening to bring the number of finalists up to six, based on the judgement of sports publication editors and experts.

Finally, a popular jury composed of booksellers from all over Italy and Panathlon International members will express their opinion on the six titles selected as equals. It was, in fact, a Tuscan panathlete who proposed, 60 years ago, to include a sports section alongside the traditional 'Bancarella' literary competition that still takes place today in Pontremoli, in the province of Massa and Carrara.

In the square of Pontremoli on 15 July, under the supervision of a notary public, the ballots will be counted to designate the overall winner of this edition and proceed to the award ceremony.

The trophy, which is very significant, recalls the epic of the itinerant book sellers, a historical tradition of that area.
