El pasado 28 de octubre, en el Auditorio de Compensar, la mas importante Caja de Compensación de Colombia, se llevó a cabo el Panel “El Aporte de los Juegos Olímpicos a la aplicación de los Principios de la Carta Olímpica”. La metodología hibrida de este evento permitió la posibilidad de que cerca de 400 personas, entre atletas y familias, docentes y estudiantes de carreras afines al deporte y la actividad física acudieran al auditorio y que otros centenares de interesados lo hicieran virtualmente, gracias a la transmisión que hiciera en Canal Olímpico del Comité Olímpico Colombiano, vía You Tube.
Desde Rapallo, Italia, y para iniciar el evento recibimos el auspicio y saludo del Presidente de Panathlon International, Giorgio Chinelatto, y desde Punta del Este, Uruguay el correspondiente de nuestro Consejero por América, Carlos De León. Tuve la ocasión de dar apertura al panel en mi condición de Presidente del Panathlon Club Colombia, cercano ya a su primer año de existencia.
El objetivo principal del evento fue el de provocar una reflexión sobre el verdadero papel de los Juegos Olímpicos dentro del Movimiento Olímpico, el cuál debe apreciarse e interpretarse más allá de la victoria, la medalla, el ranking, la marca o el diploma, trascendiendo a la construcción de una sociedad más pacífica y tolerante en la que el deporte, un derecho de todos, permita la inclusión, la tolerancia y el desarrollo de la persona, al tiempo que evita cualquier forma de discriminación.
La numerosa audiencia escuchó los argumentos, los ejemplos y conclusiones de los representantes de los clubes y distritos de Panathlon en América y formularon interesantes preguntas sobre la forma y la necesidad de que se entienda la actividad deportiva desde le texto de la Carta Olímpica. Los panelistas dejaron constancias claras sobre la forma en que los Juegos propiciaban el ideal olímpico y cómo en algunas ocasiones no lograban contribuir a esa aspiración y absolvieron las inquietudes de los asistentes.
El Panathlon Club Colombia agradece a todos aquellos que participaron en este evento, especialmente a los panelistas y a sus clubes de origen, a Compensar, a los atletas asistentes y a los socios integrantes de nuestro club que en una labor en equipo hicieron posible este momento de reflexión y unión.

Le mois de septembre a été marqué par de belles valeurs sportives à l'occasion de la 7e édition des « 1000 km du Fair-Play ». Cette édition 2024 a mis l'accent sur l'importance des infrastructures sportives, ces lieux de rencontre et de transmission des valeurs positives du sport. Terrains, stades, piscines, gymnases et autres espaces sportifs, fréquentés par des milliers de sportifs amateurs et professionnels, ont accueilli les différents relais organisés. Ces lieux étaient parfaits pour diffuser des messages de respect, de solidarité et de Fair-Play.
Les membres du Panathlon Wallonie-Bruxelles, ainsi que les infrastructures sportives, ont été invités à mener des actions de sensibilisation pour promouvoir ces valeurs auprès du grand public. Ainsi, plus de 50 relais de sensibilisation au Fair-Play ont été organisés tout au long du mois de septembre et jusqu’à mi-octobre.
Chaque kilomètre parcouru était l’occasion de souligner que le Fair-Play va bien au-delà de la compétition sportive, et qu’il s’incarne au quotidien, dans toutes les pratiques sportives et à tous les niveaux. Au total, 59,744 km ont été parcourus à travers toute la fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Das Tiroler Sportehrenzeichen wird an Personen verliehen, die sich als Sportler, Trainer oder Funktionäre durch langjährige sportliche, ehrenamtliche und außerordentliche Leistungen um den Tiroler Sport besonders verdient gemacht haben. Im Rahmen eines Festaktes im Innsbrucker Landhaus erhielt vor kurzem Dr. Winfried Sponring, jahrelanger Präsident vom Panathlon Club Innsbruck, für seine jahrzehntelange Tätigkeit als Funktionär in höchsten Positionen, diese besondere Auszeichnung. Überreicht wurde diese von Tirols Landeshauptmann Anton Mattle und Sportreferent Georg Dornauer.
Der nunmehrige Past-Präsident Dr. Winfried Sponring erhielt somit die höchste Sportauszeichnung des Landes Tirol für einen Funktionär. „Tirol ist ein Sportland! Wir können sehr stolz darauf sein, so viele Sportlerinnen und Sportler auf internationalem Top-Niveau zu haben, die regelmäßig Bestleistungen erzielen. Hinter erfolgreichen Athletinnen und Athleten stehen unterstützende Angehörige, engagierte Funktionärinnen und Funktionäre sowie starke Vereine. Das Engagement und der Fleiß der Tiroler Verantwortungsträgerinnen und Verantwortungsträger im Sport sowie den Trainerinnen und Trainern in den Verbänden und Vereinen ist hierbei ein wichtiger Faktor. Herzliche Gratulation allen Ausgezeichneten – Athletinnen und Athletinnen in allen Disziplinen, Funktionärinnen und Funktionäre sowie Trainerinnen und Trainern gleichermaßen“, betonte Landeshauptmann Anton Mattle.
„Als Sportlandesrat des Sportlandes Nummer eins in Österreich freut es mich sehr, dass so viele Sportlerinnen und Sportler sowie Funktionärinnen und Funktionäre aber auch Trainerinnen und Trainer Tag für Tag die Sportlandschaft Tirols mit Leben und Leistungen erfüllen. UNESCO and Panathlon Club of Lisbon

Panathlon Club of Lisbon is officially part of the Portuguese UNESCO family and recognized as a Club to “Promote Values of Sport”.
The Memorandum was signed last Thursday, in Lisbon, and thus Panathlon Club of Lisbon will now be able to organize initiatives and apply UNESCO brand.
We will also get into the UNESCO network of associations, which are already part of it. This is a great move and opportunity and we look forward to see other Panathlon Clubs joining us in this.

Panathlon Club of Lisbon - Participation in the ACOLOP General Assembly in Lisbon

Panathlon Club of Lisbon President, Mr. Mario Almeida, was invited by the Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committes (ACOLOP), mainly by its President, IOC Member Filomena Fortes, to participate in the General Assembly of ACOLOP and to present the Ética Summit Congress, which hosted its 3rd edition and had more than 4000 registrations from all Portuguese speaking countries in the world.
This was a good moment to show to the different Olympic Committees, namely, the Portuguese Olympic Committee, the Brazilian Olympic Committee, the Kapverde Olympic Committee, the Angola Olympic Committee, the Guinea Bissau Olympic Committee, the São Tomé Olympic Committee, the vision and mission of Panathlon Movement and our initiatives and actions. It was also decided that a MoU would be signed between Panathlon Club of Lisbon and the ACOLOP to further strengthen its cooperation, mainly with the upcoming editions of Etica Summit.
It's like when there is fog and our eyes struggle to see our surroundings clearly: and amid this snow-white expanse, we lost Matilde.
A death on the job, what she loved to do, a tragedy that seems absurd to touch a young athlete. Yet, the work of the sportsman has all kinds of fatal cases and probably thousands of protocols would not be enough to avoid them.
She was young and beautiful, and her smile that we knew from the photos overwhelms us along with the incredulity of what happened. We avoid giving importance to the where and how, better to understand the why. We need a response to family, to young people, to sport.
Nothing is worse than a father or mother surviving their daughters and sons. The death of Simoncelli, who fell on a motorcycling track, a sport that, like others, is not immune to danger, comes to mind.
And it is the father who remembers him and makes it a reason for human endurance in the face of a pain that is impossible to somatise. This is certainly also the case for Matilde's family.
If to her we address an emotional thought and a heartfelt prayer, to her relatives we dedicate the most fraternal embrace possible.
Of her we do not care to know her sporting palmares and the prospects that awaited her.
Too strong is the pain that comes with an axiom: you cannot die at 19 years.

Panathlon Club Buenos Aires - Premio al juego limpio en los Torneos intercolegiales de la ciudad de Buenos Aires

Lunes 21 de octubre con un cielo azul y mucho calor en el Parque Sarmiento finalizaron las competencias de los XXX Torneos Intercolegiales Masivos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Las profesoras Viviana Notaro y Maria José Castagna supervisoras de las regiones 7 y 8 del Ministerio de Educación de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires educando en valores durante las competencias fueron eligiendo los equipos que mas juego limpio demostraban en los encuentros deportivos de voley, futbol, handball y basquet. Ello fue acompañado por el Panathlon Club Buenos Aires que ofreció premiar a las escuelas y al gesto de juego limpio individual.
Concurrieron a la premiación la presidente Eva Szabo junto con los panathletas Marta Fatone y Julio Majul, éste del Panathlon Club PBA Zona Norte, y entregaron el premio Fair Play a los colegios que mas puntaje obtuvieron, en el caso de la región 7 al Colegio Técnico 27 "Hipólito Yrigoyen" y en la región 8 al Colegio Nº 8 "Julio Argentino Roca" y las medallas individuales a los estudiantes Alan Machado y Luciano Zoja quienes se destacaron por su conducta deportiva.
An online meeting of the PI President's Committee was held last Oct. 18, to discuss various topics, including the new budgets for the 2025/2026 biennium and a new membership fees proposal, drafted in accordance with what emerged at the General Assembly in Agrigento. The budgets and new fees will be the subject of discussion and deliberation by the International Board to be held on October 30 to illustrate them to the Clubs, District Presidents and Governors. The meeting also considered how to organize the Extraordinary General Assembly to be held next December 14, for the first time held “online”.
It was also discussed the need to schedule a meeting with the IOC to present and develop projects and new synergies with the Olympic Committee. Furthermore, it was confirmed the presence of President Giorgio Chinellato in the Sportaccord IF Forum of Lausanne, an event of great importance in the international sports scene.
Alongside the discussions about the PI Clubs and Areas, the CdP learned favourably of an interesting collaboration with the University of Leuven aimed at promoting the ethical values of sport among young students. The meeting ended positively and with a strong sense of cooperation, optimism and determination for the future of the association.
IF FORUM 2024

The SportAccord Forum, held in Lausanne October 21-23, was an opportunity to bring together the members of AIOS Association of International Organisations for Sport of which PI is a member.
Present for Panathlon International were: President, Giorgio Chinellato, Past President Pierre Zappelli, along with President Bruno Molea, Valeria Gherardini and Wolfgang Burghardt (CSIT), Martin Isaksson and Bradley Sandler (FICS - Federation Internationale de chiropratique du sport).
During the meeting there was a discussion about the next possible members of Aios and the role of Aios in SportAccord, following the resolution taken by Gaisf regarding its decision on the possible entry of Aios into SportAccord as an observer.
The entry of grassroots sport and organisations that do not practice élite sport in SportAccord would be an important recognition of the work of those who struggle every day to promote sport as a tool for healthy lifestyle and education.
