The European Fair Play Movement (EFPM) has officially opened the call for nominations for the European Fair Play / European Fair Play Movement Awards 2025/2026.
These prestigious awards recognize outstanding examples of fair play, ethical conduct, and the promotion of sporting values in sport and society.
Nominations are welcome from individuals, organizations, institutions, and initiatives that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the principles of fair play.

"Panathlon International y Centro Caribe Sports: el 25 de julio la firma del Protocolo de Entendimiento"
El Presidente Internacional de Panathlon International, Giorgio Chinellato, ha llegado a la República Dominicana, donde ha sido recibido con gran entusiasmo por el Presidente del nuevo Panathlon Club Santo Domingo, Domingo Solano.
La visita supone una importante ocasión para reunirse con los socios, consolidar las relaciones con la comunidad panathlética local y conocer a panathletas procedentes de otros países. Además, el Presidente Chinellato ha sido invitado a participar a la Ceremonia de inauguración y en los actos relacionados con los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, uno de los eventos deportivos más prestigiosos del continente.
Reconocidos por el Comité Olímpico Internacional como el evento multideportivo regional más antiguo, los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, en su edición de Santo Domingo 2026, reunirán a más de 6.000 atletas procedentes de 37 países. Se trata de una cita de gran relevancia internacional que ofrecerá a Panathlon International una importante oportunidad para reforzar su presencia en la zona del Caribe y promover los valores del juego limpio, la ética y el respeto a través del deporte.
El momento más significativo de la misión tendrá lugar el 25 de julio, cuando, gracias a la iniciativa del Presidente Solano, el Presidente Internacional firmará un protocolo de acuerdo con Centro Caribe Sports para estar presente, a través del Club, en el marco de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe y promover activamente la difusión de la cultura deportiva y del juego limpio.
El tema del hikikomori llega al Parlamento Europeo
A raíz de los contactos iniciados en septiembre de 2025, el Panathlon International ha contribuido a llamar la atención de las instituciones europeas sobre el fenómeno del hikikomori, con especial referencia a la prevención del malestar y el aislamiento social entre los jóvenes.
El miércoles 9 de septiembre, de 15:00 a 17:00 horas, tendrá lugar en el Parlamento Europeo de Bruselas la mesa redonda **«Hikikomori: perspectivas europeas para la prevención del fenómeno y buenas prácticas italianas»**, por iniciativa de la eurodiputada Mariateresa Vivaldini.
En el encuentro participarán, entre otros, el Presidente de Panathlon International, Giorgio Chinellato, y el Consejero Internacional Fabiano Gino Maria Gerevini, responsable de la mesa redonda internacional sobre el síndrome de hikikomori.
El Panathlon International se enorgullece de haber contribuido a la consecución de este importante objetivo, fruto del esfuerzo dedicado a promover el diálogo y sensibilizar a las instituciones sobre un tema de creciente relevancia social..
IPACS publishes new fact sheet on artificial intelligence and corruption in sport
IPACS has published the Fact Sheet on Artificial Intelligence and Corruption in Sport, the first major output of the new Working Group dedicated to AI.
The publication has been added to the IPACS Tool Library and marks the launch of a new section dedicated to artificial intelligence, which will also host future resources on the topic.
The new Fact Sheet on artificial intelligence reaffirms IPACS’s role as an international benchmark for the development of tools to support integrity in sport. This is a path that Panathlon International follows and supports wholeheartedly, by participating in its initiatives and promoting a culture of good governance, transparency, and sporting ethics.
In the coming months, the publication will also be available in French and Spanish. The topic of artificial intelligence will also be explored in greater depth during the 9th IPACS Annual General Conference, scheduled for 2 October 2026
IOC provisionally lifts suspension of Russian Olympic Committee – Recommendations to IFs with regard to Russian athletes’ participation no longer applicable
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) has provisionally lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) that had been in effect since 12 October 2023. The decision was taken following a thorough analysis by the IOC’s Legal Affairs Commission, considering that the ROC no longer includes as its members any regional sports organisations in territories falling under the jurisdiction of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine. In addition, the ROC confirmed that it does not, and will not, conduct any activities in these territories. The IOC EB will continue to closely monitor the situation relating to any ROC activities in those territories, and reserves the right to take any further measures if deemed necessary.
With the qualification period for both the LA28 Olympic Games and the Dolomiti Valtellina 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games having started, and the need to offer equal access to these competitions to all athletes, the IOC EB decided that its recommended conditions of participation for International Federations (IFs) and international sports event organisers of 28 February 2022 and 28 March 2023 as they relate to Russian athletes and teams, including the protective measures, are no longer applicable.
In accordance with the Olympic Charter, and as applicable to all NOCs in general when selecting the athletes participating in the Olympic Games, the ROC must ensure that Russian athletes’ “selection [for the Olympic Games] shall be based not only on their sports performance, but also on their ability to serve as role models who respect, uphold and promote a peaceful society through sport as set forth in the Olympic Charter.” (Bye-law 2.1 to Rules 27 and 28).
YOULEAD: Transnational Project Meeting of European-Funded Project Concludes in Podgorica
The Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the Erasmus+ project YOULEAD, coordinated by Panathlon International, commenced on 23 June and concluded on 24 June in Podgorica, Montenegro. The two-day meeting brought together project partners to review the progress achieved so far and prepare the next phase of activities aimed at strengthening youth participation in sport governance.
During the first day of the meeting, partners analysed and shared the findings of the National Reports conducted in their respective countries. This work enabled the identification of common trends, good practices and valuable insights to support the next operational phases of the project. The discussions were further enriched by a review of the previously prepared literature review and recommendations, providing a solid evidence base for the project’s future actions.
The Steering Committee also convened on 23 June to review the overall progress of the project, assess the activities already implemented and discuss the forthcoming actions foreseen in the work plan.
The second day focused on a roundtable discussion that brought together a distinguished panel of experts from the fields of sport, education, youth policy and integrity. The session provided Consortium Partners with an opportunity to discuss their findings and present the initial concepts for the educational programme to be developed under Work Package 3. The exchange of experiences, perspectives and recommendations offered valuable insights that will contribute to the design and delivery of the project’s educational activities and outputs.
The roundtable featured Igor Vušurović, Olympic gold medallist from Sydney 2000, former Director responsible for State Administration for Sport and former Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Montenegro; Marija Jovanović, renowned Montenegrin athlete and Olympic silver medallist from London 2012; Neda Ojdanić, Director of the Anti-Doping Commission of Montenegro; Miloš Ranitović, Secretary General of the Paralympic Committee of Montenegro; Prof. Dr. Jovan Gardašević, Dean of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education at the University of Montenegro; Demir Purović, Administrator of the Podgorica Youth Centre; and Nikoleta Bulatović, former tennis player, coach and sports manager.

The Podgorica TPM reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to promoting more inclusive, informed and participatory pathways for young people within the world of sport and marked an important step towards the implementation of Work Package 3.

MindFit VR: Avanzando
Al término de las actividades de formación, tuvo lugar la segunda reunión transnacional del proyecto (TPM) de MindFit VR, lo que brindó a los socios una importante oportunidad para revisar los avances logrados hasta la fecha y planificar las próximas fases del proyecto.
En representación de Panathlon International asistieron Fábio Figueiras, coordinador del proyecto, y Debora Quercioli, de la Secretaría General, quien prestó apoyo a las actividades del proyecto.
Durante la reunión se debatieron varias cuestiones operativas, entre ellas la finalización de las traducciones del plan de estudios a los diferentes idiomas, el desarrollo del conjunto de herramientas y la planificación de las próximas actividades de difusión. Los socios también acordaron el calendario para las próximas fases, reafirmando su compromiso común con los objetivos del proyecto.
La reunión del equipo de gestión del proyecto (TPM) se celebró tras un programa intensivo de formación internacional celebrado en Esmirna, al que asistieron cuatro panathletas: Teresa Rocha, de Portugal; Ilse Vanhoorelbeke, de Bélgica; Rebecca Ripanti, de Italia; y Tunde Stift, de Hungría.
Una vez completada la formación, ahora comenzarán a planificar y poner en marcha actividades de difusión en sus respectivos países.

MindFit VR continúa así su andadura con éxito, reforzando la cooperación internacional y desarrollando herramientas innovadoras destinadas a promover el bienestar y la resiliencia a través de la educación y el uso de nuevas tecnologías.
MindFit VR: Moving Forward
At the end of the training activities, the second transnational project meeting (TPM) of the MindFit VR project took place, providing an important opportunity for partners to review the progress achieved so far and plan the next stages of the project.
Representing Panathlon International were Fabio Figueiras, Project Coordinator, and Debora Quercioli from the General Secretariat, who provided support for the project activities.
During the meeting, several operational issues were discussed, including the completion of the curriculum translations into the different languages, the development of the toolkit, and the planning of upcoming dissemination activities. The partners also agreed on the timeline for the next phases, reaffirming their shared commitment to the project's objectives.
The TPM followed on from an intensive international training programme held in Izmir, attended by four Panathletes: Teresa Rocha from Portugal; Ilse Vanhoorelbeke from Belgium; Rebecca Ripanti from Italy; and Tunde Stift from Hungary.
Having completed the training, they will now begin planning and implementing dissemination activities within their respective countries.

El 23.º Congreso Internacional de Panathlon International en Gante: 75 años de unidad a través del deporte
Ha concluido en Gante, Bélgica, el 23.º Congreso Internacional de Panathlon International, dedicado al tema «Panathlon International: 75 años inspirando la unidad a través del deporte». Un evento de gran relevancia institucional y cultural, enmarcado en las celebraciones del 75.º aniversario del Movimiento, que ha reunido a representantes de Panathlon, ponentes internacionales, expertos, jóvenes líderes y partes interesadas del mundo del deporte.
El Congreso fue inaugurado por el Presidente Internacional Giorgio Chinellato y el Presidente de la CCIE, Antonio Carlos Bramante, quienes mantuvieron una interesante entrevista sobre los orígenes del Movimiento, su papel en el presente y los retos que le esperan en el futuro.
Dos intensas jornadas de trabajo situaron en el centro del debate el papel del deporte como instrumento de diálogo, cooperación, educación, integridad, gobernanza y cohesión social. En el mundo contemporáneo, de hecho, el deporte ya no representa solo competición, resultados o medallas, sino que se confirma cada vez más como un lenguaje universal, capaz de superar fronteras, culturas y pertenencias, creando oportunidades de encuentro incluso allí donde el diálogo institucional encuentra mayores dificultades.
El Congreso se inauguró con el saludo del Presidente Internacional Giorgio Chinellato y continuó con la ponencia inaugural del Profesor Thierry Zintz, dedicada a la diplomacia deportiva y a la capacidad del deporte para promover el entendimiento, la cooperación y las relaciones positivas entre pueblos y comunidades.
La primera mesa redonda, moderada por Antonio Carlos Bramante, Presidente de la Comisión de Cultura, Investigación y Educación de Panathlon International, contó con la participación de Maria Beatriz Rocha Ferreira, vicepresidenta de la ICSSPE; Fahmida Faiza, experta en diplomacia deportiva; y Guillermo González López, Presidente del Panathlon Club Colombia. Las intervenciones pusieron de relieve la contribución de Panathlon International a la diplomacia del deporte a través de la promoción de los valores positivos de la práctica deportiva.
También se prestó especial atención a las nuevas generaciones, con la mesa redonda «Youth Participation in Sport Governance: from Principles to Practices». En el debate participaron Fábio Figueiras, miembro de la CCIE de Panathlon International; Tiago Guilherme, de ENGSO Youth; Matilda Tommasi, Presidenta del Panathlon Junior Trieste Muggia y miembro de la CCIE de Panathlon International y Berber Swart, joven líder del COI. El debate subrayó la importancia de valorar a los jóvenes no solo como protagonistas de la práctica deportiva, sino también como actores activos en la construcción de la gobernanza y el futuro del deporte.
El tema del juego limpio y las buenas prácticas se puso además de relieve a través de la exposición internacional Best Practices Showcase, comisariada por Alina Baranova, Sander Renson y la Secretaría General, que recopiló y presentó 47 proyectos de excelencia promovidos por los Clubes Panathlon de todo el mundo. La segunda jornada del Congreso se dedicó al tema «Shaping the Game: Europe’s Role in the Future of Sport». Tras la inauguración de los trabajos, intervinieron Stanislas Frossard, Director de Deportes del Consejo de Europa; Chiel Warners, director técnico de la Federación Neerlandesa de Atletismo; y Georg Häusler, director de la DG EAC Sport de la Comisión Europea.
Se dedicó un amplio espacio a las mesas redondas sobre la integridad en el deporte y la buena gobernanza deportiva desde una perspectiva europea. La mesa redonda dedicada a la integridad, moderada por la Dra. Cleo Schyvinck, contó con la participación de Chiel Warners, Guy Goudesone y Michele Colucci. La mesa redonda sobre la buena gobernanza, presentada por Georg Häusler y moderada por Philippe Vlaemminck, contó con la participación del Prof. Bram Constandt, Walter De Beauvesier Watson y Sven Demeulemeester.
Fábio Figueiras intervino en calidad de director de Cumplimiento Normativo y Regulación de KPMG Suiza, antes de las conclusiones a cargo de Antonio Carlos Bramante, quien clausuró los trabajos del congreso subrayando el valor del diálogo y la importancia de seguir reforzando el papel cultural y educativo de Panathlon International.
El Congreso de Gante ha reafirmado con firmeza la misión de Panathlon International: promover un deporte capaz de educar, unir, inspirar y contribuir a la construcción de una sociedad más justa, respetuosa y solidaria. Al celebrar los 75 años de su fundación, el Movimiento renueva su compromiso con la ética, la cultura deportiva, la integridad, el juego limpio y la participación activa de las nuevas generaciones.
En Gante, la primera edición del Premio Internacional Conde Jacques Rogge
Al término del 23.º Congreso Internacional de Panathlon International, en la tarde del 6 de junio, los panathletas fueron invitados a asistir a la primera edición del Premio Internacional Conde Jacques Rogge, ideado y promovido por el Distrito de Bélgica de Panathlon International.
La ceremonia tuvo lugar en el espléndido marco del Ayuntamiento de Gante, en presencia de importantes autoridades y representantes institucionales, entre ellos Su Alteza Real el Príncipe Laurent y la Princesa Louise de Bélgica, Anne Bovyn, esposa del difunto Jacques Rogge.
El Premio, creado para rendir homenaje al legado del Conde Jacques Rogge, antiguo Presidente del Comité Olímpico Internacional entre 2001 y 2013, tiene como objetivo valorizar proyectos capaces de promover, a través del deporte y la educación, la inclusión, la diversidad, el crecimiento de los jóvenes y la cohesión social.
Tras un riguroso proceso de selección, el primer galardón fue otorgado a Generations For Peace, una organización no gubernamental con sede en Jordania que utiliza el deporte, el liderazgo juvenil y el diálogo como herramientas para construir la paz, fomentar el entendimiento mutuo y reforzar la cohesión social.
El prestigioso premio fue recogido por Su Alteza Real el Príncipe Feisal Al Hussein de Jordania, fundador y presidente de Generations For Peace, quien acudió personalmente a Gante acompañado de una delegación de la organización.
La entrega del premio fue un momento significativo, ofreciendo un poderoso testimonio de cómo el deporte puede ser un catalizador de unión, diálogo, juego limpio y desarrollo humano.
El reconocimiento constituyó además un sincero homenaje a la figura de Jacques Rogge, cuya dedicación al deporte, a la educación y al crecimiento de las jóvenes generaciones sigue inspirando al mundo deportivo internacional. Su visión, materializada también en la creación de los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud, conserva aún hoy una extraordinaria actualidad y refleja plenamente los valores celebrados durante el Congreso de Gante.
El presidente de PI, Giorgio Chinellato, al inicio de la ceremonia tuvo ocasión de expresar las felicitaciones de todo Panathlon International a Generations For Peace, renovando su agradecimiento al Distrito Bélgica por haber promovido una iniciativa de gran valor ético y simbólico, plenamente coherente con la misión panatlética de promover el deporte como instrumento de educación, inclusión, paz y crecimiento de las nuevas generaciones.
