The global sports movement’s most influential decision-makers have arrived in Birmingham, West Midlands, for the return of sport’s No.1 global gathering 

The SportAccord World Sport & Business Summit 2024 opened in Birmingham, with more than 1,500 delegates from over 100 countries meeting in the West Midlands for the highly anticipated return of sport’s most important industry summit.

Key figures from across the international sports movement have embarked on five days of networking from 7-11 April, with high-level meetings, a bustling exhibition, and a packed conference programme under the umbrella theme of ‘The Power of Sport’.

World-class speakers will include sports leaders such as Mark Rein, Vice President and Co-Founder, Epic Games; UK Sport Chair Dame Katherine Grainger; Rob Alberino, Vice-President of Content and Production, Kansas City Chiefs; and many more.

En el Campeonato de las Américas y Campeonato Sudamericano de Escopeta el Panathlon Club Buenos Aires hizo entrega del premio Fair Play, al Sr. Francizco Bozza, medallista olímpico de Perú, por el gesto de caballerosidad deportiva que tuvo en su especialidad de fosa olímpica al ceder su posición en la final.

At the General Assembly of the Belgian Rowing Federation, Gwenda Stevens, ambassador of the Sport Against Match Fixing project, presented the SAMF project, capturing the interest of those present.

The project was also presented to the young U19 and U23 rowers preparing for the upcoming European and World Championships.

As part of the implementation of Recommendation 14 of the Olympic Agenda 2020+5, the IOC Executive Board approved the updated version of the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance in the Olympic Movement (BUPG). These principles are an implementing provision of the IOC Code of Ethics.

In this context, and with a view to strengthening the Olympic Movement through good governance, in 2024 the IOC is organising webinars focusing on various topics to which Panathlon International has been invited to participate

The meetings, which will take place quarterly, will deal with different thematic areas. In the first session on 20th March the Secretary General Simona Callo and the Administrative Secretary Rossi Monica participated and the theme was "Transparency and control mechanisms". The session provided some useful tools and practices that we can use to strengthen transparency and control mechanisms within our organisation.

The objective of these webinars is to explain and define the steps to be taken to achieve basic levels of good governance in sports organisations.

These meetings allow participants to exchange good practices, share their common challenges and benefit from the support provided by the IOC's Ethics and Compliance team through practical examples developed by the International Partnership Against Corruption in Sport (IPACS).

El 25 de marzo el Panathlon Club buenos Aires organizó una reunión presencial y virtual en el Salón Auditorio del Comité Olímpico Argentino para tratar el tema "El deporte contra el amaño de los partidos: cuando comenzar ...?" en el que se presentó las normas del Comité Olímpico Internacional en relación al tema y el programa SAMF.  Se encontraron presentes autoridades del Comité Olímpico Argentino, su presidente Mario Moccia, la vicepresidente Alicia Massoni y el secretario general Víctor Sergio Groupierre, el presidente del Distrito Argentina del Panathlon International Jorge Minuto, presidentes de los clubes de Argentina, panathletas, profesores de educación física, alumnos universitarios, y panathletas de América a traves de zoom. 

Se inició la reunión con la bienvenida del Presidente del Comité Olímpico Argentino, quién mencionó las tareas realizadas para despertar a la sociedad sobre este tema que preocupa a todos, luego la presidente del P.Club Buenos Aires Eva Szabo introdujo al orador Dr. Estanislao Osores Soler, abogado, consejero del Comité Olímpico Argentino quién explicó los problemas y manipulaciones que se ven en los deportes que interesan a multitudes y las medidas que aconsejadas por el COI.- Fabio Figueras desde el P.Club Lisboa explicó de que se trata el programa en el que están trabajando y de que forma tratan de lograr que los deportistas que recién se inicien estén al tanto de la problemática, mediante comics y presentaciones con el programa de SAMF. Finalizó la presentación la Secretaria General del P.I. Simona Callo, con información del programa SAMF y noticias del Panathlon Internacional.

La concurrencia pudo realizar preguntas a los oradores, finalizando la reunión con el agradecimiento a todos los participantes.

Sessão mensal do Panathlon Clube de Lisboa de 21 de março 2024

Decorreu no passado dia 21 de março de 2024, na Sala de Troféus do Ginásio Clube Português, a sessão mensal do Panathlon Clube de Lisboa (PCL). O PCL tomou a iniciativa de Aceitar o pedido de contribuição lançada pelo Panathlon Internacional (PI) a todos os seus Clubes,  e que tinha como objetivo a discussão e disseminação do Projeto Erasmus+ “Sport Against Match Fixing (SAMF)”. O Projeto SAMF tem como pano de fundo o tema da prevenção da manipulação de competições, que dada a sua importância tem, recorrentemente, sido tratado pelo PCL. 

Foram vários os sócios, convidados e interessados a encherem a sala, esgotando os lugares disponíveis. A sessão contou, também, com uma forte presença online e já consta no canal YouTube do PCL, por forma a poder ser recuperado por quem não tenha tido a possibilidade de assistir ou que queira rever a sessão.

A sessão começou à hora prevista e foi aberta pelo Presidente do PCL, Eng. Mário Almeida, que explicou o propósito, bem como a importância que este tema tem para o PCL. Aproveitou, ainda, para referir outras atividades do PCL em preparação, tais como a próxima edição do Ética Summit.

Depois da abertura do Presidente, seguiu-se uma apresentação do Vice-presidente do PCL, Fábio Figueiras, que integra, em representação do Panathlon Internacional (PI), o Projeto Erasmus+ “Sport Against Match-Fixing (SAMF)”, e que partilhou com os presentes os objetivos do Projeto SAMF, bem como os resultados obtidos. Assim, foram, por exemplo, divulgados os documentos que o Consórcio SAMF, composto pelo Panathlon Internacional, Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF), Federação Europeia de Basquetebol (FIBA Europa), Associação de Futebol de Malta, Sport Evolution Aliance (SEA), Federação de Futebol da Lituânia e EUNIK, produziu ao longo dos últimos dois anos, bem como a disseminação internacional que tem sido feito pelo PI e pelos Embaixadores que para o efeito nomeou.

Dos documentos produzidos, Fábio Figueiras destacou, por exemplo, a Banda Desenhada, que foi também distribuída por todos os que estavam presentes na Sala, bem como o jogo SAMF, os posters e as entrevistas com jogadores que decidiram dar o seu testemunho.

Finda a apresentação, entrou-se numa mesa-redonda de debate, liderada por Diogo Guia e que contou com a participação de Rute Soares (Coordenadora do Projeto SAMF pelo FPF), Thiago Santos (Investigador do Projeto SAMF pela SEA), Fábio Figueiras (Co-Project Manager do Projeto SAMF pelo PI) e João Paulo Almeida (Diretor Geral do Comité Olímpico Portugal). 

No decurso da mesa-redonda de debate, foram os participantes desafiados pelo moderador Diogo Guia para providenciarem as suas opiniões com respeito ao problema das competições desportivas, tendo ainda havido a possibilidade de dissecar alguns dos resultados do Projeto SAMF. 

Serviu, ainda, a mesa-redonda de debate para os participantes partilharem as suas preocupações com respeito ao tema em discussão. 

Por fim, foi aberto o período de questões e respostas ao público presente, tendo depois a sessão sido encerrada pelo Presidente, Eng. Mário Almeida.

Le Prix 2024 du Panathlon Club de Lausanne a été décerné à la joueuse de tennis Timea Bacsinszky. Le club service souhaite ainsi saluer et récompenser l’athlète pour ses grands mérites sportifs, sa détermination exemplaire pour lutter contre les stéréotypes de genre et son fair-play.

Joueuse professionnelle de tennis de 2003 à 2021, Timea Bacsinszky était classée 9e à la WTA (Women's Tennis Association). Durant sa carrière sportive, la Vaudoise fut médaillée d’argent en double aux Jeux olympiques de Rio en 2016 aux côtés de Martina Hingis. Son riche palmarès compte quatre titres en simple et six en double sur le circuit WTA. 

Aujourd’hui, la Lausannoise enseigne au TC Stade-Lausanne et elle est impliquée dans Vaud Tennis. Timea Bacsinszky fait partie de la communauté lausannoise d'ambassadrices de différentes disciplines sportives pour renforcer la place des femmes dans le sport.

Devant 80 convives au Stade de La Tuilière à Lausanne le 25 mars 2024, Timea Bacsinszky (34 ans) a été ovationnée par ses invité·e·s. Le diplôme a été remis par Oscar Tosato, président de la commission du Prix Panathlon, en présence du président du club, Marc-Henri Clavel. « Cette distinction est dans le thème de la table ronde "Diversity, equity and inclusion of women in sport" de l’assemblée du Panathlon International en juin prochain à Agrigento en Italie », a relevé Oscar Tosato en remettant le prix à la meilleure joueuse de tennis de Suisse romande.

Le prix, sous la forme d’un chèque de 1000 francs, a été remis au nom de Timea Bacsinszky à l’association cantonale Vaud Tennis, représentée par son président, Claude Anker. (comm./J.G.)

Letzten 14. und 15. März fand im Generalsekretariat in Rapallo die Sitzung des Internationalen Rats von PI statt. Das Treffen begann mit einer Schweigeminute zum Gedenken des Internationalen Ratsmitglieds Eugenio Guglielmino, das letzten Januar plötzlich vorzeitig verstorben ist. Der Internationale Präsident begrüsste und empfing daraufhin die neuen Ratsmitglieder Fabiano Gerevini und Andrea Tortora als Nachfolger auch von Patrick Van Campenhout infolge seines Rücktritts.  

Nach den Tätigkeitsberichten des Präsidenten, des Schatzmeisters und der Generalsekretärin wurde über die Projekte, die Anerkennungen für die „Athleten-Testimonials“ von PI (die der neue Rat ernennen wird), die kommende Generalversammlung und das Podiumsgespräch sowie die Erasmus-Projekte, für die PI durch die Vermittlung von Fabio Figueiras und der Generalsekretärin seine Teilnahme beantragt hat (sieben Projekte), gesprochen. 

Daraufhin wurden die in der Generalversammlung vorzustellenden Berichte zusammen mit der Bilanz, dem Budget und dem begründeten Vorschlag des IR im Hinblick auf die Mitgliedsbeiträge für die nächsten zwei Jahre (2025-26) besprochen und einstimmig verabschiedet. 

Über diesen Punkt stellte der Schatzmeister einen Vorschlag für eine Erhöhung der Mitgliedsbeiträge vor, die seit mehr als 20 Jahren nicht mehr erhöht wurden, und er erklärte, dass dies für eine finanzielle Unabhängigkeit vom IOC unerlässlich und auch notwendig sei, um mit Erfolg die zahlreichen und immer intensiveren internationalen Beziehungen weiterführen zu können. Nach zahlreichen Fragen und tieferen Überlegungen zum Thema stimmten alle Ratsmitglieder dem Vorschlag zu. Auch das RPK hat die Arbeit positiv bewertet und seinen Bericht vorgelegt. 

Daraufhin wurden die eingegangenen Bewerbungen für die Wahl der internationalen Organe vorgestellt und die Neuausschreibung mit der Begrenzung auf die Kontinente EU und SA und den Distrikt Schweiz (das Rundschreiben wurde bereits versandt) beschlossen, da die Kandidaten für den Internationalen Rat nicht ausreichen, um die für die Nicht-Italiener bestimmten Ämter zu decken. 

Dann wurde die Ethikkommission gegründet, damit wir uns den Richtlinien des IOC anpassen. Sie hat zu gewährleisten, dass PI (seine Organe, die Clubs und die einzelnen Mitglieder) die Grundprinzipien des Ethikkodexes respektieren, der von der Generalversammlung in Agrigent verabschiedet wird, um Neutralität, keine Art von Diskriminierung, Verhaltensintegrität usw. gesichert sind. 

Ebenfalls wurde das Zusammenarbeitsabkommen mit der International Dart Federation genehmigt und über die Zweckmässigkeit diskutiert, ein “PI-Maskottchen” zu adoptieren. Für den letztgenannten Vorschlag ist ein spezielles Projekt im Detail aufzustellen und später anhand einer Umfrage unter den Clubs deren Meinung einzuholen. Das Gleiche gilt für Panathlons offizielle Hymne. 

Am Freitag fand die gewohnte Sitzung mit dem Vorstand der PI-D. Chiesa-Stiftung statt, mit der wir Seite an Seite die Projekte fortführen, die zur Verbreitung unserer Werte durch die internationalen Fotografie- und Kurzfilmwettbewerbe dienen. In diesem Zusammenhang wurde die Verlängerung des Fotografiewettbewerbs bis zum 31. März d.J. beschlossen. 

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) reaffirms its strong position against the politicisation of sport. This position is a Fundamental Principle of the Olympic Charter, which says:

“Recognising that sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality. They have the rights and obligations of autonomy, which include freely establishing and controlling the rules of sport, determining the structure and governance of their organisations, enjoying the right of elections free from any outside influence and the responsibility for ensuring that principles of good governance be applied.”
