La 52e Assemblée générale du Panathlon International à Gand
Dans le cadre des événements célébrant le 75e anniversaire de Panathlon International et à l’issue du 23e Congrès international, la 52e Assemblée générale du Panathlon International s’est tenue à Gand, en Belgique.
Cette Assemblée a constitué un moment particulièrement significatif de participation démocratique et d’échange pour l’ensemble du Mouvement panathlonien. 43 clubs étaient présents, pour un total de 187 votants, représentant 14 pays : l’Argentine, l’Autriche, la Belgique, le Brésil, la Colombie, le Chili, la France, l’Italie, le Mexique, le Pérou, Saint-Domingue, la Slovénie, la Suisse et l’Uruguay.
Au cours de la session ordinaire, les rapports prévus ont été présentés et les points à l’ordre du jour ont été abordés, recueillant un large consensus de la part de l’Assemblée. Le débat a confirmé l’adhésion aux orientations programmatiques et l’engagement commun à poursuivre sur la voie de la croissance, du renforcement et de la valorisation du Panathlon International à l’échelle mondiale.
Dans l’après-midi, les votes relatifs aux modifications statutaires ont eu lieu. Il s’agissait d’une phase particulièrement complexe et importante, au cours de laquelle les clubs ont pris part à pas moins de 71 votes. La participation attentive et responsable des délégués a permis d’aborder avec sérieux et dans un esprit constructif une étape fondamentale pour la mise à jour et la future organisation du Mouvement.
Le Panathlon International tient à adresser ses sincères remerciements à tous les clubs présents et représentés, pour leur participation, leur collaboration et leur contribution tout au long des travaux de l’Assemblée.
L’Assemblée de Gand s’inscrit ainsi pleinement dans le parcours des 75 ans du Panathlon International, réaffirmant la valeur de la participation des clubs et le rôle central de la vie associative dans la construction de l’avenir du Mouvement.
La journée s'est terminée par un dîner de gala, précédé de la cérémonie de remise du Prix de la communication, présentée par le responsable du prix, Giacomo Santini, au cours de laquelle les trois lauréats ont reçu leur prix en récompense de leur travail.
L'Assemblée générale du Panathlon International approuve deux nouvelles Chartes éthiques
Au cours de l’Assemblée Générale du Panathlon International, qui s’est tenue à Gand dans le cadre des célébrations du 75e anniversaire du Mouvement, deux nouvelles Chartes éthiques importantes ont été approuvées : la Charte du Respect, proposée par le Panathlon Club de Como, et la Charte des droits des femmes dans le sport, proposée par le District Brésil.
Il s’agit d’une étape significative dans le parcours du Panathlon International en faveur de la promotion de l’éthique, de la culture sportive et de la protection des valeurs fondamentales du sport.
La Charte du Respect rappelle l’importance d’adopter des comportements fondés sur la loyauté, la responsabilité et le respect d’autrui, tant dans le contexte sportif qu’en dehors de celui-ci.
La Charte des Droits des Femmes dans le Sport réaffirme quant à elle la nécessité de promouvoir l’égalité des chances, la dignité, la participation et la reconnaissance du rôle des femmes dans tous les domaines de la pratique sportive.
En approuvant ces documents, le Panathlon International confirme son engagement à défendre un sport capable d’éduquer, d’inclure et de contribuer à l’épanouissement de la personne et de la société.
À Gand, la 52e Assemblée générale ordinaire et extraordinaire du Panathlon International
Le samedi 6 juin 2026 s'est tenue la 52e Assemblée générale ordinaire et extraordinaire du Panathlon International.
Les représentants des Clubs, des Districts et des organes internationaux se sont réunis à un moment particulièrement important pour la vie associative du Panathlon International, appelés à débattre des principales orientations institutionnelles et organisationnelles du Mouvement.
La session ordinaire a constitué une occasion importante de participation et d’échange, confirmant le rôle central de l’Assemblée en tant que moment de synthèse, de responsabilité et de partage entre les différentes composantes de la communauté panathlonienne internationale.
L'Assemblée générale extraordinaire s'est ensuite tenue dans l'après-midi, consacrée en particulier à l'examen des propositions de modification des Statuts du Panathlon International, dans le cadre d'un processus visant à accompagner l'évolution du Mouvement et à renforcer son action au niveau international.
Le Prix Jacques Rogge décerné à Generations for Peace : un moment historique pour Panathlon International à Gand
Le Congrès International du Panathlon International a connu l’un de ses moments les plus marquants en fin d’après-midi, le vendredi 5 juin, dans le prestigieux Hôtel de Ville de Gand, avec la cérémonie de remise du 1er Prix Jacques Rogge.
Cette distinction, créée pour mettre en valeur l’impact social du sport auprès des nouvelles générations, revêt une importance particulière en cette année du 75e anniversaire du Panathlon International, confirmant l’engagement du Mouvement dans la promotion des valeurs éthiques, éducatives et sociales du sport.
En présence de la famille royale, des autorités et des représentants du Panathlon International, le prix a été remis à l’ONG internationale Generations for Peace, en reconnaissance de son action menée à l’échelle mondiale dans la résolution des conflits, l’instauration du dialogue et la promotion de la coopération entre les jeunes à travers le sport.
La cérémonie a constitué le point d’orgue du Congrès, offrant un moment d’une grande valeur symbolique et institutionnelle, dans l’esprit de l’héritage de Jacques Rogge et de la force du sport en tant qu’instrument de paix, de croissance et de rencontre entre les personnes.
Panathlon International opens discussions in Ghent on the future of sport, focusing on diplomacy, fair play and European governance
The first day of the 23rd Panathlon International Congress has opened in Ghent, dedicated to the theme “Panathlon International: 75 Years Inspiring Unity Through Sport”, with a packed programme of events and two panel discussions focusing on sports diplomacy, governance and the role of the younger generation.
In today’s world, sport no longer represents merely competition, results or medals, but is increasingly establishing itself as a tool for connection, dialogue and international cooperation. This is the strength of sports diplomacy: speaking a universal language capable of transcending borders, cultures, religions and political affiliations, creating opportunities for encounter and collaboration even where institutional dialogue faces greater difficulties.
In this context, Panathlon International reaffirms its role as a Movement committed to promoting ethics, fair play, respect and the values of sport as concrete tools for personal growth, social development and the building of bridges between peoples and nations.
The first panel brought together Antonio Bramante, Chair of the Culture, Research and Education Commission of Panathlon International, Maria Beatriz Ferreira, Vice-Chair of ICSSPE, Fahmida Faiza, an expert in sports diplomacy, and Guillermo Gonzalez Lopez, President of Panathlon Club Colombia.
The presentations highlighted Panathlon International’s contribution to sports diplomacy through the promotion of the positive values of sporting activity.
The second panel featured Fabio Figueiras, a member of Panathlon International’s CCRE, Tiago Guilherme from ENGSO Youth, Matilda Tommasi, President of Panathlon Junior Trieste Muggia and a member of Panathlon International’s CCRE, and Berber Swart, an IOC Young Leader. The discussion centred on the fundamental role of the younger generations in building a sporting world and a society increasingly oriented towards fair play, inclusion and responsibility.
The theme of fair play was further highlighted through the exhibition “Best Practices Showcase”, organised for the Congress, which brings together and presents significant initiatives promoted by Panathlon Clubs.
All the meetings took place in the presence of International President Giorgio Chinellato and Secretary General Simona Callo, together with Sander Renson, President of Panathlon Internationaal Vlaanderen.
The proceedings continue today, 5 June, with the theme “Shaping the game: Europe’s role in the future of sport”.
The programme includes presentations by Stanislas Frossard, Director of Sport at the Council of Europe, Chiel Warners, Technical Director of the Dutch Athletic Federation, and Georg Häusler, Director of DG EAC Sport, as well as two round-table discussions on integrity in sport and good governance in sport from a European perspective.
The event opens with a welcome address by Giorgio Chinellato, President of Panathlon International, followed by a speech by Stanislas Frossard, Director of Sport at the Council of Europe. Chiel Warners, Technical Director of the Dutch Athletic Federation, then takes the floor; he also participates in the first debate on integrity in sport, led by moderator Dr Cleo Schyvinck, alongside experts Guy Goudesone and Michele Colucci.
Proceedings resumed with a speech by Georg Hausler, Director of the European Commission’s DG EAC Sport, who introduced the round table on good governance in sport, moderated by Philippe Vlaemminck, with contributions from Prof. Bram Constandt, Walter De Beauvesier Watson and Sven Demeulemeester.
Fabio Figueiras spoke in his capacity as Compliance & Regulatory Manager for KPMG Switzerland, before handing over to Antonio Bramante, President of the Cultural, Scientific and Educational Commission (CREC), for the closing remarks.
The Ghent Congress thus reaffirms Panathlon International’s mission: to promote sport that educates, unites, inspires and contributes to building a fairer, more respectful and more caring society.
MindFit VR: Preparatory meeting with PI trainers ahead of the İzmir training course
An online preparatory meeting was held on 28 May with the Panathlon International trainers who will take part in the MindFit VR International Training Course, scheduled to take place in İzmir, Türkiye, from 8 to 12 June 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Fábio Figueiras, aimed to introduce participants to the MindFit VR – Immersive Sports for Mental Well-being project, an Erasmus+ Sport initiative combining sport, mental well-being and digital innovation, and to share the main information regarding the training programme, logistical arrangements and planned activities.
The four Panathlon International trainers who will attend the training course are Teresa Rocha, Ilse Vanhoorelbeke, Rebecca Ripanti and Tunde Stift.
During the course, participants will explore the use of Virtual Reality and hybrid sport approaches as educational tools to promote emotional resilience, mental well-being awareness and new methodologies for working with young people. The training will follow an experiential and participatory approach, combining exchanges, practical activities, group work and shared reflection.
After the training, the trainers will contribute to the next implementation phase of the project, bringing the acquired skills back to their local contexts and supporting the development of activities dedicated to mental well-being through sport and digital innovation.
Comité de Présidence du Panathlon International : focus sur les Assemblées générales, les chartes éthiques et les activités internationales
Le Comité de Présidence du Panathlon International s'est réuni en virtuel le 26 mai 2026, à partir de 12 h, afin d'aborder de nombreux thèmes institutionnels, culturels et organisationnels en vue des prochains rendez-vous internationaux.
En ouverture de la séance, le procès-verbal de la précédente réunion du Comité de présidence du 5 mars 2026 a été approuvé. Les participants ont ensuite entendu les communications du Président et du Secrétaire général, qui les ont informés des principales activités en cours.
Parmi les points centraux de la séance, une attention particulière a été accordée aux modalités de vote des Assemblées générales de Gand 2026 et à la définition de la Commission de vérification des pouvoirs pour l’Assemblée générale dans la ville belge.
Le Comité a également abordé le thème des chartes éthiques, à présenter à l’Assemblée, confirmant l’engagement du Panathlon International dans la promotion des valeurs du sport et de la responsabilité sociale.
Au cours de la réunion, il a également été question de l’octroi de parrainages et du phénomène des hikikomori, un sujet d’importance sociale croissante qui touche également le monde de la jeunesse et du sport.
Une mise à jour importante a également été faite concernant le Panathlon Club de Saint-Domingue et les Jeux des Caraïbes, témoignant de l’attention constante que porte l’association aux activités internationales et à la diffusion des valeurs panathloniennes.
En ce qui concerne l’activité culturelle, le Comité a examiné le programme des événements prévus à Gand en 2026 et les initiatives liées au Flambeau d’Or, distinction historique du Panathlon International.
Dans la dernière partie de la réunion, les aspects organisationnels relatifs aux prochaines activités ont été abordés et il a également été annoncé qu’un nouveau Club est en cours de création en Croatie, signe supplémentaire de la croissance internationale du Panathlon International.
Cette réunion a confirmé le fort engagement du Panathlon International à renforcer sa présence internationale, à promouvoir les valeurs éthiques du sport et à soutenir des projets culturels et sociaux de grande envergure.
Second YOULEAD Steering Committee Meeting Reinforces Coordination Ahead of Podgorica TPM
The second Steering Committee Meeting of the Panathlon International coordinated YOULEAD project was successfully held online on 21 May 2026, bringing together project partners from across Europe to review ongoing progress and prepare the next phases of implementation.
The meeting provided an opportunity for partners to exchange updates on current activities, particularly regarding the advancement of the research phase and the preparation of the upcoming Transnational Project Meeting (TPM), which will take place in Podgorica, Montenegro, in June 2026.
Discussions also focused on coordination matters related to project management, communication and dissemination activities, as well as the continued collaboration between partners in ensuring the smooth development of project outputs. Particular attention was given to strengthening cooperation between work packages and supporting a coherent transition towards the next implementation phase of the project.
Partners also reviewed the current status of the YOULEAD communication tools, including the project website, and highlighted the importance of ensuring visibility for the project’s activities and milestones at both national and international level.
The meeting concluded with a positive outlook towards the forthcoming TPM in Podgorica and reaffirmed the strong collaborative spirit among consortium partners as the YOULEAD project continues to progres

Panathlon International : enthousiasme et participation record pour le Projects Showcase
Un grand enthousiasme et une participation exceptionnelle ont marqué le Panathlon Clubs Projects Showcase : pas moins de 43 projets ont été présentés par des clubs du monde entier, témoignant concrètement de la vitalité, de la passion et de l'esprit de service qui animent Panathlon International.
Cette initiative, conçue comme une véritable vitrine des valeurs panathloniennes – et non comme une compétition –, a dépassé toutes les attentes, rendant nécessaire un agrandissement des espaces d’exposition. Un résultat qui met en évidence la qualité et la diversité des projets mis en place en faveur des communautés locales.
Au cours de la réunion du vendredi 24 avril, la commission chargée du projet a défini les prochaines étapes opérationnelles, en lançant la phase d’analyse des projets répartis par zones géographiques, qui mènera à l’exposition finale prévue en juin.
Un grand merci à tous les clubs participants : grâce à leur enthousiasme, leur dévouement et leur engagement, ils contribuent de manière déterminante à faire de cette initiative l’un des moments les plus marquants des célébrations du 75e anniversaire de Panathlon International.
