With the meeting of the Selection Committee of 8 July, the XV International Graphic Competition was closed. The 180 works received have been evaluated and, with satisfaction, there has been a noticeable growth in the works of the category "painting and drawing" both in number and in quality.

The four prizes were awarded for each category. They will be delivered during the ceremony included in the Panathlon Day that will take place in Venice, at the Goldoni Theatre, on October 19, at 17h00.

 The awarded works and those selected by the selection committee will be the subject of the inaugural exhibition, set up in the atrium of the "Constantine Reyer" sports centre in Sant'Alvise and open on the same date. 

At the end of the exhibition, from November the review of the works will be available to Clubs, which request them for exhibitions in their localities.

Serata Panathlon con i fiocchi al Circolo di Tennis di Reggio Calabria, per la presentazione del libro autobiografico dell'ex campione della Juventus Sergio Brio dal titolo "L'ultimo stopper", edito dalla Graus, con proventi da destinare alla Fondazione Agnelli per la ricerca contro il cancro. 

Un evento che, patrocinato dal CONI e dalla Reggina calcio,  ha avuto il conforto di una grande cornice di pubblico e si è aperto con la lettura di un significativo messaggio di saluto del presidente del Comitato Olimpico Nazionale, Giovanni Malagò. 

Sergio Brio è stato per tredici anni un pilastro della grande Juve di Trapattoni e Dino Zoff. Con la maglia bianconera , tra gli anni settanta e ottanta,  ha collezionato quattro scudetti, ha vinto tre edizioni della Coppa Italia e tutte le competizioni internazionali dell'epoca, dalla Coppa dei campioni all'intercontinentale. Adesso, con la mano di una brava coautrice come Luigia Casertano, ha deciso di raccontarsi. Con "L'ultimo stopper" accompagna il lettore in un avvincente viaggio che ricostruisce una carriera piena di pagine indimenticabili. 

La prefazione del libro è firmata da Giampiero Boniperti e da Allegra Agnelli, presidente dell'associazione piemontese per la ricerca contro il cancro, ente al quale l'ex difensore  ha dedicato  l'intero ricavato dell'opera. 

A questa nobile finalità, dopo i saluti d'apertura e i ringraziamenti del presidente del circolo tennis "Polimeni" Igino Postorino, si sono richiamati nei loro interventi il sindaco di Reggio Giuseppe Falcomatà, il presidente del comitato regionale del CONI Maurizio Condipodero, il presidente della Reggina calcio Mimmo Praticò, il Governatore dell'area 8 del Panathlon International Antonio Laganà, il presidente del Panathlon Club della città dello stretto Tonino Raffa, che ha anche moderato il dibattito. Parte integrante della manifestazione è stata l'esposizione di cimeli e maglie storiche di alcuni grandi campioni del passato (Pelè, Maradona, Tardelli, Platini, Pruzzo) curata dal museo internazionale del calcio di Roma, presente con il suo direttore Luigi Carvelli. 

Accompagnata dalla proiezione di alcuni suggestivi filmati d'epoca, è seguita la descrizione dei contenuti del libro, fatta da Brio e da Luigia Casertano. Una carrellata piena di aneddoti, curiosità, episodi ed esempi che esaltano la funzione educativa e formativa dello sport. 

Non sono mancati l'accenno alla tragedia dell'Heysel del maggio 1985 (era esposta anche la maglia indossata da Brio in quella tristissima serata), il ricordo di Gaetano Scirea, la descrizione dei rapporti straordinari con Gianni Agnelli, con il presidentissimo Boniperti, con Giovanni Trapattoni, con tutti gli altri compagni dei tredici anni di vita alla Juve, da Zoff a Platini, da Boniek a Tardelli, da Causio a Furino, da Cabrini a Paolo Rossi. 

Brio ha spiegato quanto sia stata importante la gavetta nelle giovanili del Lecce e nella Pistoiese. Poi, sollecitato da Tonino Raffa,  ha parlato dei  duelli "rusticani" con i più grandi attaccanti del passato (Savoldi, Van Basten, Pruzzo, Altobelli, Careca). Si è inoltre soffermato sui tanti infortuni che hanno rischiato di compromettere la carriera, e che, invece, lo hanno reso più forte, facendogli capire il valore della tenacia, della volontà, dell'abnegazione. Tutte doti che l'uomo deve mettere in campo quando deve fare i conti con  le contrarietà, le delusioni e le sfide della vita. 

Luigia Casertano (laurea in scienze politiche alla Luiss, alla sua prima  esperienza come biografa), ha aggiunto altri particolari gustosi sul suo approccio con il mondo Juve, ma anche sulla necessità di riscoprire  il primato dell'etica e quei valori umani  che il calcio di oggi rischia di cancellare. 

E dopo il dibattito, le premiazioni. La targa del Panathlon International è stata consegnata  consegnata dal governatore dell'area 8 Antonio Laganà. 

An unusual motto for the 50th anniversary of the Panathlon Club Innsbruck (PCI)

Sports & Other – it is time to be active for Fairness, Ethics and Respect in Sport. This was the theme discussed during the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of  the P.C. Innsbruck (PCI) foundation which took place on 9 June 2017 at the Studio 3 of the ORF (Austrian television) Tirol. International President Pierre Zappelli has participated in this important event that has seen the participation of a wide audience and eminent guests

Ein ungewöhnliches Geburtstagsmotto anlässlich 50 Jahre Panathlonclub Innsbruck (PCI)

Sports & more – it´s time to be active for Fairness, Ethics and Respect in Sport war die Thematik des Jubilars PC Innsbruck, der am 9. Juni 2017 im Studio 3 des ORF (Österreichischer Rundfunk) Tirol sein 50jähriges Bestehen feierte, eine Feier mit wichtigen Partnern, Signalen und Botschaften.

Der Präsident des PCI, Andreas Wanker, durfte mit dem internationalen Präsidenten Pierre Zappelli als höchsten Vertreter von Panathlon auch Abordnungen vom PC Brixen und PC Graz begrüßen. Aufgewertet wurde die Veranstaltung ferner mit der Anwesenheit der lokalen Prominenz – Josef Geisler (Landeshauptmannstellvertreter für Tirol und Sportlandesrat), Christoph Kaufmann (Vizebürgermeister der Stadt Innsbruck und Sportstadtrat), Peter Mennel (Generalsekretär des österreichischen Olympischen Komitees) und Peter Lechner (Präsident der Tiroler Fachsportverbände). Diese illustre Runde gestaltete in Form einer Diskussionsrunde den ersten Teil des Festaktes, dem in der Folge die Auszeichnung besonderer Aktivitäten der Tiroler Verbände und zum Abschluss die Unterzeichnung der Panathlonerklärung zu Ethik im Jugendsport folgten.

Präsident Pierre Zappelli eröffnete die vom bekannten ORF-Moderator Martin Papst souverän geleitete Diskussionsrunde mit dem Statement, dass Fair Play als Grundlage jeglichen Sporttreibens zu werten wäre. Anhand der Kernaussagen der sehr offen und konstruktiv geführten Diskussion konnte den Zuhörern im Plenum eindrucksvoll und plausibel der unverzichtbare Stellenwert von Fair Play vermittelt werden. So inkludiert Fair Play u.a., dass

• unsere Gesellschaft allen die Möglichkeit für diverse Sportaktivitäten bieten soll;

• in den Zielorientierungen die individuelle persönliche Entwicklung Vorrang haben sollte;

• neben Sozialkontakt oder auch Gesundheit die sportliche Leistung zu einer wichtigen Orientierung sportlicher Aktivität und einem wichtigen Lernfeld zählt;

• auch im Spitzensport nicht nur auf die sportliche, sondern auch auf die persönliche Qualifikation Einfluss genommen werden sollte;

• dass der Sport nicht durch negative Nachrichten (Medien) einen Imageverlust erfahren darf, sondern bewusst und vermehrt seine Werte und die vielen positiven Beispiele in der Welt des Sports transportiert werden müssen;

• der Wert und die Leistung des Ehrenamts von der Gesellschaft anerkannt und sichtbar zu machen ist – das Ehrenamt zählt immerhin zur wichtigsten Säule des Sports.

Im zweiten Hauptteil dieses Festabends wurden folgende, ausgewählte Projekte der Tiroler Verbände durch die Präsidenten von Panathlon International und dem PC Innsbruck ausgezeichnet:

„Sport fair bindet Österreich“ (für Frauen und junge Mädchen, denen aufgrund schlechter Rahmenbedingungen der Zugang zu sportlicher Betätigung erschwert und nicht möglich ist), „Fairness & Fun“ (hier werden den Schülern im allseits beliebten Völkerballspiel mit speziell fairnessorientierten Regeländerungen die grundlegenden sozialen Kompetenzen wie Fairness, Gerechtigkeit, Respekt und Gemeinschaft vermittelt), „Fussball gegen Rassismus“ (das Projekt ermöglicht einer ausschließlich aus Asylwerben bestehenden Mannschaft, am offiziellen Meisterschaftsbetrieb teilzunehmen), „Wiffzack“ (für Schülerinnen und Schülern Sonderpädagogischer Zentren) sowie die persönliche Ehrung von Winfried Sponring (Gründungsmitglied des PC Innsbruck, langjähriger und oftmaliger Präsident, über mehrere Jahre Distriktpräsident) durch die Präsidenten Pierre Zappelli und Andreas Wanker.

Zum Abschluss der Veranstaltung wurde von allen Ehrengästen und dem Großteil der Besucher das Angebot angenommen, die Panathlonerklärung zur Ethik im Jugendsport zu unterzeichnen und damit ein Zeichen dafür zu setzen, sich für die Werte im Sport aktiv einzubringen und auch vorzuleben.

Der gelungene Abend im Ambiente des ORF Tirol wurde mit ästhetischen Vorführungen des Weltmeisterteams um den Voltigierclub Pill auch optisch zu einem Erlebnis.

P.C. Reggio Calabria -  Oreste Granillo’s  versatility and the National Day of Sport

Two initiatives of great thickness have seen in the past weeks the Panathlon Club of Reggio Calabria alongside the Sports Institutions. The first week was dedicated to the ceremony with which  CONI wanted to remember Oreste Granillo important manager and leading figure of the south on the twentieth anniversary of his death. The second week was dedicated to the national day of sport, with about a thousand youth who, for a whole Sunday, crowded the waterfront of the town.

The global  secretary of the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP), the Argentinean Rodolfo Buenaventura, presented a certificate of honour and a medal from the FIEP for their contribution to the development of Physical Education to the dean of the School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences (FPCEE) Blanquerna-URL, Josep Gallifa; the director of the school’s degree Sports Sciences, Jaume Bantulà; and the vice-president of the FIEP and FPCEE Blanquerna-URL lecturer, Enric M. Sebastiani. The FIEP was founded in Brussels in 1923 and has a presence in over 150 countries. It has been recognised by UNESCO and the International Olympics Committee.

June 23 Hotel Granduca - "The Spirit of ethics and fair play with the youth basketball teams" will be the theme of the monthly meeting organized by the Panathlon Club Grosseto which will be attended by the presidents of the basketball teams of the city of Grosseto as speakers.

Special guest to talk about Fair Play in the world of national and international basketball, will be the coach of Fiat Auxilium Torino, Luca Banchi from Grosseto.
